Five love languages

Do the questionnaire and have an open conversation with your partner about it.

How does it make you feel or view yourself and your partner after the conversation?

I didn’t understand why the things I were doing just weren’t working.

The 5 Love Languages test is a real eye opener. It shares with you not only
how you like the receive and engage with love (not just the bedroom stuff!)
but also how your partner likes to receive and engage too.

An example. It frustrates me sometimes when it feels like the household
chores are left more in my balance to sort; the dishwashing, the clothes
washing, cleaning the house. So for me, a meaningful sign of love in this
case would be the better contribution to chores like this without prompt or
argument to get them done.

This would fall in to the Acts Of Service language but there are others;
Quality Time
Physical Touch
Words of Affirmation
Receiving Gifts

And it’s perfectly expected that your partner may have a different language. It
makes sense doesn’t it that we might like to receive love in different ways to
our own, but how often do we explore what makes the other tick, especially
when so much attention is on the kids and the professional side of our lives?

It took me some getting in to this exercise but I really see the benefit and
it helps have much better conversations at home. Give is search online,
the test is free and there is a book to accompany this for those wanting to
get greater detail.
